Public Health Policy

In my opinion, the line that was so revelatory in your Feb. 27 editorial, “Medicaid Care vs. Coverage,” was not so much the National Governors Assn. proposal to limit Medicaid services in order to provide coverage for more people, but the reference to the Rolls Royce of medical insurance policies available to our representatives. Anyone who has explored those policies knows that until our elected officials (many of whom are millionaires) must deal with the kind of constant confusion and rising expense their constituents must face in dealing with medical care, we won’t ever come close to any reform in this area. Our representatives, who are constantly being wooed by insurance companies, simply aren’t in touch with reality.
