Garden Grove 1, No. 2 La Quinta 0 (8 innings)--Tom O’Brien doubled home Matt Bennett with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Argonauts (8-5, 1-2) the upset. Alberto Crisantos (2-1) went the distance, striking out seven. La Quinta is 11-1, 2-1.

Pacifica 8, Santiago 2--Jacob Clark pitched a two-hitter, striking out 18. Alfonso Auelua had three hits and drove in a run and scored twice for Pacifica (5-4, 3-0). Teammate Adam Randall also had three hits and two RBIs.

In the South Coast League:

El Toro 10, No. 9 Mission Viejo 3--Winning pitcher Geoff Sargent helped his own cause by driving in two runs for the host Chargers (5-5, 2-2).

In the Sea View League:

No. 5 Irvine 4, Aliso Niguel 0--Derek Smith (5-0) pitched a two-hitter, striking out six, and catcher John de Vries drove in two runs in a four-run fourth for the host Vaqueros (10-1, 6-0).

Laguna Hills 10, Newport Harbor 0 (5, mercy)--Brian Anderson and Chris Johnson hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning and Daniel Miltenberger struck out six for Laguna Hills.
