Boeing to Trim Long Beach Jobs

Share

Boeing Co., citing slow sales of its short-range, 106-seat 717 jet, said it plans to lay off about 600 employees at its Long Beach commercial airplane facility, or about 12% of the work force.

Most of the layoffs will occur in the third and fourth quarters and involve jobs across the board, a Boeing spokesman said. The aerospace firm employs about 14,000 people in Long Beach, where it also builds the C-17 military cargo plane. About 5,000 work on the commercial side.
