As expected, the Detroit Pistons announced the hiring of Rick Carlisle as head coach.

He replaces George Irvine, who was fired after the Pistons finished the season with a 32-50 record, the league’s ninth-worst mark.

Carlisle reportedly signed a three-year deal worth between $5 million and $6 million.

Carlisle, 41, a former Indiana Pacer assistant, worked as a radio analyst for the Seattle SuperSonics this season.
