With No Immigration Laws, There’s No U.S.

Re “Police, Residents Discuss Deportations,” Nov. 12:

Your article is lacking the most fundamental understanding of civil, criminal law and the basic structure of any society. The problem is you step over the most crucial point, that illegal aliens are illegally in this country, so deportation is an appropriate and necessary part of having laws against unlawfully entry into the United States. Without the deportation of illegal aliens, immigration and visa laws are useless. Without immigration and visa laws, national borders are useless. Without national borders, national sovereignty does not exist. Without national sovereignty the United States of America does not exist. Now, if you want the United States to cease to exist, then keep thinking immigration control is not necessary.
