The Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday launched a Spanish-language section on its Web site--an effort to provide investor education to the fast-growing U.S. Latino population.

A link to the Spanish-language site can be found on the SEC’s Web site at https://www.sec.gov or directly at https://www.sec.gov/investor/espanol.shtml.

The new Web site describes the role of the SEC and how it protects investors, including Spanish translations of the popular brochures ranging from investing in mutual funds and certificates of deposit to cold calling and affinity fraud.

The SEC also said it has updated its toll-free telephone number for Spanish-speaking investors who lack Internet access. The toll-free number is (800) 732-0330.
