Terrorism War Dissenter Faces Election Challenge
The woman who once was the nation’s highest-ranking Green Party officeholder now hopes to unseat the only member of Congress to oppose a resolution that granted President Bush authority to use force against terrorists.
Former state Assemblywoman Audie Bock, now a Democrat, said she plans to challenge Rep. Barbara Lee, also a Democrat, in 2002.
Bock said Lee’s decision has people thinking that California’s 9th District, including Oakland and Berkeley, does not empathize with the rest of the nation.
