Santa Monica 44, El Segundo 14--Santa Monica (5-1, 3-0) scored 24 first-quarter points and cruised to its fifth consecutive victory in an Ocean League game at El Segundo High.
Vikings’ receiver Charles Gordon had 10 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback James Cooper completed 11 of 14 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. Ricky Johnson completed his lone pass attempt to Gordon for 40 yards.
Santa Monica running back Derrick Davis scored three touchdowns, plunging in from three yards and twice from one.
El Segundo quarterback Matt Engle completed 13 of 29 passes for 227 yards, including touchdowns of 75 and 39 for El Segundo (3-3, 2-2). He also threw a first-quarter interception ending a streak of 230 consecutive attempts without an interception.
