Rwandan Priest Sent to War Crimes Court
From Times Wire Reports
Switzerland extradited a Rwandan priest to Tanzania to face charges of genocide before a U.N. war crimes tribunal.
Emmanuel Rukundo, a former Rwandan army chaplain, was arrested July 12. He was flown to Amsterdam and then to the tribunal in Arusha, Tanzania, the Federal Office of Justice said.
Rukundo, 42, is accused of compiling lists of Tutsis to be killed during Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, when extremist Hutus massacred more than 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus. He denies the charges.
