Corvo Plays First NHL Game

With defenseman Aaron Miller expected to be sidelined for at least a month because of a fractured left foot, Joe Corvo played in his first NHL game Saturday night.

Corvo, who wore No. 26, played 26 games for Manchester of the American Hockey League before being recalled on Friday.

Corvo, who leads AHL defensemen with 26 points, skated with veteran Mathieu Schneider against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Staples Center.

Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, who has been sidelined since late November because of a back injury, has been practicing and could return this week.

The Kings had their eighth sellout of the season when 18,184 attended. The Kings are drawing almost 1,000 more fans per game than they did last season, when they averaged 16,756.... Alexander Frolov began Saturday’s game tied for third among all NHL rookies with six goals.... Pittsburgh forward Martin Straka did not play because of a hamstring injury and defenseman Janne Laukkanen sat out because of a hip injury.
