“The wine was an Italian Sauvignon Blanc, the 2000 Schiopetto Collio from the Friuli region [in the mountains north of Venice] that I had at lunch. Since Spottswoode produces a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc each year, it is educational for us to try others, both from California and around the world. It was a delicious wine--its nose showed a delicate richness, with mineral and honey hints. As it spent more time in the glass, it also gave off hints of lime and lemongrass. It was equally lovely on the palate, and I enjoyed it immensely!”
