Woman Urged Daughter to Kill Herself, Police Say
From Staff and Wire Reports
A mother has been accused of encouraging her daughter to commit suicide, police said.
Colleen Ritaceline Rice, 53, was arrested at Mercy Hospital on Saturday on suspicion of aiding and abetting a suicide. Rice’s 27-year-old daughter was being treated for an overdose of prescription medicine, Det. Mary DeGeare said.
The victim told police her mother handed her six to eight tablets of Depakote, an anti-convulsant, and demanded that she take them if she was sincere about killing herself, DeGeare said.
