Suspect in Girl’s Slaying Fights Extradition to N.Y.
A Los Angeles man arrested on suspicion of murdering a girl in New York in 1984 is fighting extradition, his lawyer said Wednesday.
Manuel Pacheco, a 33-year-old personal trainer from Reseda, appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Pacheco, who maintains his innocence, will await a governor’s warrant from New York to force the extradition.
Pacheco was arrested in Los Angeles on March 20 on an unrelated child molestation case. Investigators served an arrest warrant on Pacheco the next day in connection with the death of 11-year-old Angela Wong in New York. Second-degree murder charges await him in that case.
Pacheco is being held without bail and is to return to court April 22.
