Agents Arrest 3 on Drug Lab Charges
State narcotics agents arrested three people Wednesday for allegedly operating an illegal drug lab in their East Los Angeles home.
Jose Orozco, 45; Sonia Martinez, 20; and Juan Arguelles, 21, all of East Los Angeles, face charges of possession of a precursor chemical used in the manufacture of a controlled substance, said Shirley Lessiak, spokeswoman for the California Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
Agents searching the house found 50 gallons of methanol--a highly flammable substance used to extract pseudoephedrine for the production of methamphetamines, Lessiak said. The home is near a preschool and a church, Lessiak said.
