1-Year-Old Found Dead at Home After 911 Call
Three children are in protective custody while detectives investigate the death of their 1-year-old sister, police said Wednesday.
Officers responding to a 911 call Tuesday found the body of Samantha Rose Gutierrez in her family’s home on North Harbor Boulevard, Police Sgt. Mike Hidalgo said.
“The call was for a child not breathing,” he said. A month-old girl and two boys, 2 and 5 years old, were taken into protective custody, he said.
Police got a call in January from a child-abuse hotline operator relaying an anonymous allegation of child abuse in the home, but officers who responded saw no signs of abuse, Hidalgo said. The parents have been questioned but are not under suspicion, he said.
