Cemetery Recommended for Monument Status
A City Council committee has voted to designate Westwood Village Memorial Park, the burial place of Marilyn Monroe, Walter Matthau and other celebrities, as the city’s next historic-cultural monument.
Approval is expected from the full Los Angeles City Council.
Councilman Jack Weiss said proposed changes at such a “sensitive and sacred spot” should face extra review.
