Missing the Economics of Solar Plant Facility

Share

Regarding “Solar Plant Proposal Advances,” Dec. 5:

The 40-acre plant would have 1.1 million square feet of photovoltaic panels and be the world’s largest solar power facility, with an unknown cost because of the PUC’s decision to keep contract costs secret.

It would tap the funds previously used for homeowners and small businesses wishing to install solar power, yet this project would provide power to only 4,000 homes.

Wouldn’t it be much more economical to equip 4,000 homes with solar panels?

We should be using the rooftops to generate power that is both affordable and produced by homes and local businesses.
