Florida Shoots Way to an Easy Victory

Matt Bonner scored 18 points and No. 4 Florida shot 78% in the second half Tuesday night at Gainesville, Fla., in a 96-63 victory over South Carolina that extended the Gators’ home winning streak to a school-record 19 games.

Florida, 23-4 overall and 11-2 in the Southeastern Conference, pulled away in the closing minutes of the opening half, then broke it open by making 21 of 27 shots the rest of the way. The Gators scored 61 points in the second half.

South Carolina (11-13, 4-9) lost its second in a row after a four-game winning streak.

No. 14 Maryland 91, Clemson 52 -- Ryan Randle scored 18 points and Steve Blake added 14 at College Park, Md., in the Terrapins’ final home game of the season.

Drew Nicholas had 13 points for the Terrapins (18-7, 10-4 in the ACC). Sharrod Ford had 12 points for the Tigers (15-9, 5-8).

No. 18 Illinois 80, Indiana 54 -- Brian Cook scored 17 points, including nine in a decisive run to start the second half at Champaign, Ill., as the Hoosiers lost for the seventh time in 10 games. The Illini (19-5, 9-4 in the Big Ten) pulled away from a 39-30 halftime lead with a 25-15 run and led by as many as 28 points with 4:02 to go.

Jeff Newton had 11 points for Indiana (16-10, 6-7).

Sophomore forward Dennis Latimore has left top-ranked Arizona for the rest of the season. The 6-foot-8 Latimore averaged 3.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 23 games this season.
