Minnesota Gets Edge on Seattle
Katie Smith scored 19 points and Sheri Sam added 16 and a career-high eight assists as the Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm, 69-58, Sunday before 6,992 at Minneapolis.
The victory moved the Lynx (11-9) into a third-place tie with the Storm (11-9) in the Western Conference. Lauren Jackson led Seattle with a career-high 30 points -- including 18 during a seven-minute stretch of the second half.
Cleveland 59, Charlotte 57 -- Penny Taylor scored five of her 18 points in overtime to lead the Rockers (10-10) over the Sting (12-9) before 8,623 at Charlotte, N.C. The Sting had a final chance to tie in the closing seconds, but Tammy Sutton-Brown missed a five-foot bank shot. Shalonda Enis got the rebound and scored, but her shot was ruled after the buzzer.
New York 73, Indiana 65 -- Crystal Robinson scored 18 points and Elena Baranova added all 15 of her points in the second half, leading the Liberty (9-8) past the Fever (10-9) before 12,936 at Madison Square Garden.
