Irradiated Food

Share

I applaud the L.A. Unified School District’s decision to ban irradiated food from the schools, but it has done it for the wrong reason (Sept. 10). There is little doubt that some meat-processing factories will lose incentive to prevent contamination. Depending on irradiation to kill pathogens such as E. coli and salmonella will eventually increase the amount of fecal matter in the food supply. If I had children attending L.A. schools, I would not want them eating sterilized excrement.
