From Times Wire Reports

Israel’s Labor Party voted to join Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s ruling coalition, and the two sides began talks on details of the partnership.

Sharon needs a new coalition partner after the centrist Shinui Party left over a budget dispute. Labor supports his controversial plan to evacuate settlers and troops from the Gaza Strip next year. Sharon invited Labor into the government Friday after his right-wing Likud Party approved the idea Thursday.

Israeli media has reported that Sharon, 76, will offer Shimon Peres, 81, the job of deputy prime minister.
