Three Dozen Missing in Mining Accident
From Times Wire Reports
Rescuers searched for 36 coal miners who were missing after a flood in a mine in southern China, the government said.
Authorities said 44 of the 80 people working in the mine in Guizhou province were rescued. The cause of the flood wasn’t reported.
Flooding, fires and other deadly accidents are almost daily occurrences in China’s coal mines, which are the world’s most dangerous.
Last month, a blast in a central China mine killed 166 miners -- the nation’s deadliest mining accident in years.
