Agents Who Killed Man Were Rushed, Jury Told
From Times Wire Reports
State drug agents who shot and killed a man they mistook for a fugitive had only one hour to be briefed about the suspect’s violent behavior and catch a glimpse of his photo, a prosecutor told a Santa Clara County grand jury.
The panel, in a rare open proceeding, is deciding whether state narcotics agent Mike Walker, who fired the fatal shot, should face criminal charges in the Feb. 17 death of Rodolfo Cardenas, 43.
Grand juries normally meet in secret to protect witnesses in ongoing investigations.
