Spilled Sewage Load Snarls Freeway Traffic
From Times Staff Reports
Traffic was backed up for nearly five hours Tuesday from Santa Ana to Irvine after a truck spilled more than 2,500 pounds of treated sewage on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway, authorities said.
“I’m told it looked like an asphalt spill,” said Officer Katrina Lundgren, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol, of the 2 p.m. spill at Main Street.
The load was considered nonhazardous, she said.
