Body of Missing Girl, 12, Is Found; Man Charged
A 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in Ludington was found dead, and police charged an ex-convict who is an acquaintance of the girl’s family.
The suspect, David Wayne Mears, 30, led police to Sabrina Dalzell’s body, Police Chief Mark Barnett said. The girl was last seen Friday. An autopsy was planned.
Mears was taken into custody during the weekend and was charged with murder and kidnapping.
Sabrina’s body was found in woods two miles from her home, about 100 miles north of Grand Rapids. Sabrina’s mother left the girl and her 10-year-old brother at home overnight Friday and discovered Sabrina missing the following morning.
