This Home Theater Needs DVDs

Share

For someone who can afford a custom-made “groundbreaking home theater” (“First-Run House,” by Barbara Thornburg, Home Design Issue, Sept. 26) that is fully equipped with a DLP projector behind a specialized screening room, a 15-foot-wide film screen, three tiers of custom seating to “comfortably accommodate up to 22 people” and a 7.1 professional THX surround-sound system built into the walls and behind the screen, don’t you think producer-director Jon Avnet could afford to replace his “extensive film collection” of VHS cassettes with DVDs? What an eyesore to see that photo of floor-to-ceiling VHS tapes in such a state-of-the-art surrounding. No wonder he keeps them hidden behind a curtain.
