Filming in L.A.
WHAT a great article on “Peggy Archer” and her life as an electrician in the film industry [“A Voice for the Techies,” Dec. 4]! Her comment about runaway production totally coincides with my thinking: How can producers (or directors or movie stars) whine about the cost of filming in Los Angeles while living in $5-million mansions in Beverly Hills? If they cut their salary by 10%, they could cover the cost of a terrific union crew and be home with their families at night. Half of a star’s $10-million salary could finance an entire movie!
