The closure of Gordon “Grubby” Clark’s factory is another case where regulations are forcing such manufacturers to go overseas.

The surfboard industry now has a opportunity for an entrepreneur in South Asia or Central America to fill the void. The factories that spawned America’s Industrial Revolution a century ago have given way to overseas factories and workers.

Gordon Clark sounds like he can’t stand the fact that we insist on greater safety around toxic chemicals than we did 50 years ago.

God forbid he should sell his company to someone who is willing to comply with regulations and make a profit, instead of simply closing it down.
