Dominguez Has Easy Time With Notre Dame
Executing on offense and defense, Compton Dominguez did something Saturday that no football team had done since 2003 -- defeat Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
Junior running back Brandon Johnson rushed for 245 yards in 29 carries and scored four touchdowns as Dominguez defeated Notre Dame, 41-14, in the Southern Section Division III championship game at the Home Depot Center, ending Notre Dame’s 35-game winning streak.
Dominguez’s first drive of the game had 19 consecutive running plays and consumed 10 minutes 5 seconds before Brandon Johnson scored on a two-yard run.
Johnson had touchdown runs of nine, three and four yards to help Dominguez (13-1) win its first section title since 1996 and deny Notre Dame (13-1) a fourth consecutive championship by opening a 28-7 halftime lead.
David Ross and Marvin Johnson each made interceptions in the third quarter to prevent any Notre Dame comeback bid.
