Oakley Profit Up 27% on New-Product Demand

Sunglasses maker Oakley Inc. said second-quarter net income rose 27% on higher sales of new products.
Net income rose to $20.3 million, or 30 cents a share, compared with $16 million, or 23 cents, a year earlier, the Foothill Ranch-based company said.
Sales rose 11% to $170.5 million.
Oakley expanded distribution of its Thump line of sunglasses with a digital music player in the earpiece. The company added three styles of sunglasses in the second quarter and sold more combat eyewear to the U.S. military.
Oakley shares rose 25 cents to $16.95.
