Stage bound: “The First Wives Club,” the 1996 movie about spurned wives seeking revenge, has joined the lineup of films being developed into Broadway musicals. Producers Paul Lambert and Jonas Neilson plan to match the material with new songs -- and perhaps some of the old hits as well -- by the veteran Motown songwriters Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland.

University bound: Yvonne Rainer, a filmmaker and co-founder of the Judson Dance Theater in New York, has been named a distinguished professor in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine.

Court bound: Rapper Cassidy (real name: Barry Reese), whose new CD is due next week, faces murder and assault charges for an April 15 shooting that left one man dead and two others injured, a Philadelphia police spokesman says.
