North Carolina Takes ACC Title From Duke

Fourth-ranked North Carolina put an end to Duke’s run at Atlantic Coast Conference history, getting 26 points from Ivory Latta in an 88-67 victory Monday night in the tournament championship game in Greensboro, N.C.

The fifth-ranked Blue Devils (28-4) were seeking to become the first team, men’s or women’s, to win six consecutive ACC tournament titles. But they were beaten with ease despite 26 points from Monique Currie.

Camille Little added 23 points for the Tar Heels (27-3).

No. 7 Michigan State 55, No. 12 Minnesota 49 -- Liz Shimek scored 15 points in Indianapolis for the Spartans (28-3) en route to their first Big Ten Conference tournament title.

Jamie Broback led Minnesota (24-7) with 18 points, all in the second half.

No. 9 Rutgers 64, Villanova 59 -- Matee Ajavon had 16 points and five steals to help Rutgers (25-5) rally from 11 points down at Hartford, Conn., and earn a spot in the Big East Conference tournament final against Connecticut.

No. 13 Connecticut 67, No. 10 Notre Dame 54 -- Barbara Turner had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists to help Connecticut (22-7) advance to the Big East tournament final. The Huskies dominated the Fighting Irish (26-5) in the paint, finishing with a 45-33 rebounding edge and had 27 second-chance points.

No. 15 Temple 70, George Washington 62 -- Candice Dupree scored 21 points in Washington and Temple won its second consecutive Atlantic 10 tournament title. The Owls (27-3) won their 24th straight. Jessica Simmonds scored 18 of her 22 points in the second half to help the Colonials (22-8) draw as close as four, at 56-52, with 2:45 left.

No. 24 Wisconsin Green Bay 58, Wright State 48 -- Tiffany Mor had 14 points at Dayton, Ohio, and Wisconsin Green Bay won its fourth Horizon League title in a row. Natalie Berglin also had 14 for the top-seeded Phoenix (27-3). Jeanette Woodberry’s 13 points led Wright State (19-11).
