Passenger Is Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash
A woman died late Sunday after the car in which she was riding was struck by a hit-and-run driver, causing it to fall over the side of the Riverside Freeway, officials said.
Amie Nhung Vo, 32, was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana. The driver, Nam Nguyen, 26, suffered minor injuries.
Nguyen told California Highway Patrol officials that he lost control of his Acura RSX about 8:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Coal Canyon Road after being hit from behind. His car swerved, went up a dirt embankment and hit a guardrail before rolling over and landing on its roof, authorities said.
