Chino Motorist Dies After Being Broadsided
A man died Wednesday after his car was broadsided by an apparently speeding vehicle, Brea police said.
Joey F. Cobarrubias, 37, of Chino was turning left from a parking lot east onto Imperial Highway about 7:30 p.m. when a westbound Ford Mustang hit the driver’s side of his Mercedes, said Lt. Jack Conklin.
Witnesses said the Mustang was traveling about 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when the collision occurred west of Puente Street, Conklin said.
Cobarrubias was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he died. The driver of the Mustang, Arnulfo Ramirez Luna, 25, of Brea, sustained moderate injuries. He was not cited or arrested, Conklin said, pending an investigation.
