Malcolm Glazer, owner of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and soccer’s Manchester United of the English Premier League, was released from a Florida hospital Monday, eight days after he suffered a stroke.

Glazer, 77, has impaired speech and a lack of mobility in his right arm and leg, one of his sons said in a statement released by the Buccaneers.

“My father’s spirits are high and doctors expect his condition to improve with rehabilitation,” Joel Glazer said, adding the stroke occurred April 16 and that his father had been hospitalized at Cleveland Clinic.

Glazer bought the Buccaneers in 1995 for $192 million, then a record for an NFL franchise. In 2005, he gained control of Manchester United with a $1.47-billion takeover.
