State’s Suit Accuses Firm of Ignoring Fuel Leaks

A truck stop company failed to fix potentially hazardous problems with its underground fuel storage tanks and tampered with the tanks’ leak detection sensors at six of its sites in California, Atty. Gen. Bill Lockyer alleged in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
Flying J Travel Plazas in Bakersfield, Frazier Park, Thousand Palms, Barstow, Lodi and Ripon had tank violations, according to the suit. Utah-based Flying J Inc. could face millions in penalties, according to legal documents.
