Council Delays Vote to Renew Landfill Contract
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The City Council on Friday postponed a decision on whether to renew a five-year contract with the Sunshine Canyon Landfill above Granada Hills.
The vote has been set for Tuesday, a deadline agreed to with the dump’s owners.
Sunshine Canyon gives the city a discount in return for getting nearly all the city’s garbage. The council has asked the landfill to allow Los Angeles the option of taking some trash to landfills in other cities.
