Oregon State Free Throws Undo USC

Oregon State made three free throws in the final 28 seconds to hold off USC, 67-64, on Saturday night at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore.

Mandy Close had 20 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead Oregon State, 13-13 overall and 7-11 in the Pacific 10 Conference. Kim Butler added 17 points and Tiffany Ducker 14 for the Beavers. Eshaya Murphy had 27 points and seven rebounds for USC (17-10, 11-7).

Chloe Kerr added 13 points and five rebounds for the Trojans. USC tied the game at 64-64 on an inside basket by Kerr with 1:25 left. But the Trojans didn’t score again, and Oregon State made three of six foul shots in the closing seconds.

USC outscored Oregon State, 21-7, to start the second half. But the Beavers tied the score at 56-56 on a Close three-pointer that capped an 8-0 run.

UCLA 66, Oregon 65 -- Lisa Willis had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bruins to a victory in Oregon’s regular-season finale at home.

Lindsey Pluimer scored 17 points for the Bruins (17-10, 12-6), who shot 48% from the field.

Brandi Davis scored 15 points and Carolyn Ganes had 14, all in the second half, for the Ducks (14-14, 5-13), who closed the regular season on a five-game losing skid to finish eighth in the Pac-10.
