A second look at those tiny tools
REGARDING “Leave the Scissors at Home Too,” Letters, Feb. 19: Before the post-9/11 restrictions on scissors, I always took small needlepoint projects to work on during the flight and at my destination; scissors (about 2 inches long) are necessary for cutting the yarn or floss. Also, I would take a small eyeglass-repair kit that included a tiny screwdriver in case I had a problem with my glasses.
Short scissors and screwdrivers are generally deadly or disabling if one has good upper-body strength or specialized training to use them that way.
