Group Says Abducted Italian Journalist Is OK
From Times Wire Reports
A group that said it kidnapped an Italian photojournalist in the Taliban’s heartland in southern Afghanistan called aid workers to say he was fine and that it would make its ransom demands soon.
Peacereporter, a website specializing in reports from conflict zones, said the kidnappers called a hospital run by the Italian aid group Emergency in the southern province of Helmand, but did not identify themselves.
Local police blame the kidnapping on the resurgent Taliban, but the Islamist group blames criminals.
