TV Bounty Hunter and 2 Costars Set Free on Bail
TV reality star Duane “Dog” Chapman was released from jail Friday on $300,000 bail, facing charges in his 2003 capture of a convicted rapist in Mexico.
Chapman and two costars on the A&E; show “Dog the Bounty Hunter” were freed by a federal magistrate after being locked up for a day and a half.

Bounty hunter: In Section A articles Sept. 15-16 about bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, associate Tim Chapman was referred to as Duane Chapman’s brother. He is no relation.
They were required to wear monitoring devices until they return to court for extradition hearings to face trial in Mexico. They won’t be allowed to leave their homes except for work.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Kurren said he let loose Chapman, brother Timothy Chapman and son Leland Chapman because he didn’t see them as being a flight risk. Bail for the other two was set at $100,000 each.
They are charged with conspiracy and illegal detention of Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Luster is serving a 124-year prison term in California. Bounty hunting is a crime in Mexico.
