From Times Staff Reports
A suspect in a sexual assault was shot and killed by police Tuesday after he refused to surrender and advanced toward officers with a knife, authorities said.
Police were responding to a call that a woman walking near Mission Bay Park had been attacked, when they confronted a man who they said fit the woman’s description of her assailant. The officer who fired the fatal shot is a 21-month veteran of the department.
