2003 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Rouge, France
This is classic Pinot Noir from one of the greatest names in Burgundy. Domaine Leroy’s lineup ranges from this Bourgogne Rouge at about $35 to bottles costing several hundred dollars. And though the price may seem high for an entry-level Burgundy, the 2003 Bourgogne Rouge is better than many premier crus at twice the price. With its gorgeous fruit and exquisite balance, this is no simple Burgundy, and Lalou Bize-Leroy is no average winemaker. Get it before it’s snatched off the shelves. No need to put it away: It’s drinking beautifully now. Pour it with grilled duck breast, lamb chops or a simple steak.
