Mob kills three off-duty police
Three off-duty policemen were stoned, beaten and hanged in a central Bolivian town after residents said they tried to extort money from a man driving without license plates, news media reported.
Ten people, including the three policemen, have been lynched this year in Bolivia. Most were suspected thieves.
Deputy Interior Minister Ruben Gamarra called the latest lynching a “cowardly assassination” and said there would be an investigation into the possible participation of local authorities in Epizana, about 370 miles southeast of La Paz.
