A federal judge has sentenced a Sonora filmmaker to nearly 200 hours of community service and a year of unsupervised probation for improperly shooting American Indian ceremonial dances in Yosemite National Park.

Lorenzo Baca, 60, said he wanted to take footage of the June 2002 dances in the park’s Indian Village for a 30-minute movie intended for home or educational use. But three years later, a park service worker spotted his video on sale in one of the park’s gift shops.

Baca was found guilty of trespassing on a cultural resource and doing business in the park without a permit.
