The Dalai Lama’s envoys and Chinese officials plan a second round of talks after holding their first meeting since violent anti-government protests erupted in Tibet in March, the official New China News Agency reported.

The agency, which quoted unidentified sources, did not say when or where the next meetings would be. The report said Chinese officials had answered questions raised by the envoys of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader at the talks in the southern city of Shenzhen.

It added that the Chinese officials told the Dalai Lama’s envoys that the violent protests “had given rise to new obstacles for resuming contacts.”
