If cardholders hold back . . .
Regarding “Cardholders seeing credit limits lowered,” Nov. 19:
So the credit card companies are putting the squeeze on consumers and small businesses at the worst possible time for us -- when we really need credit lifelines.
I wonder how they would respond if every single credit card holder with an existing balance decides to say, “Screw it. My credit score no longer matters anyway since the banks aren’t giving out any credit.”

I am glad that credit card companies are reining in spending habits. Although lower credit limits may sound unfair to some, it’s essential to others. Americans have become too dependent on credit lines.
We have a negative national savings rate, an addiction to shopping and no retirement savings. Hopefully, we can get away from our play today, pay tomorrow mentality and live within our means.
