Liberal Party chief to quit

The head of Canada’s opposition Liberals announced that he will step down after the once-dominant party had one of its worst ballot showings in last week’s parliamentary vote.
Stephane Dion said he would stay on until his successor is chosen by the party, which isn’t expected before the Liberals’ convention in May.
Deputy leader Michael Ignatieff and former Ontario Premier Bob Rae, both centrists, are expected to run.
The Liberals dropped to 76 seats in Parliament from 95.
