* About 24,000 3-in-1 highchairs, manufactured in Mexico and imported by Fisher-Price of East Aurora, N.Y., are being recalled because the seat can fall backward from the frame if the release is unlatched while a child is inside. The seat back can also detach if not snapped fully into place.

The company has received one report of a detached seat back that resulted in a fractured skull. The highchairs were sold for about $100 at Target stores beginning in December 2008. Information: (800) 432-5437, www.service.mattel.com or www.cpsc.gov.

* About 31,000 Style Elements hair dryers, manufactured in China and imported by Big Lots Stores Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, are being recalled because they do not have a device to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. * About 13,000 Fresh Decor 10-count LED star string lights, made in China and distributed by Four Star Group USA Inc. of Hopkinton, Mass., are being recalled because the wiring can overheat. The lights were sold for about $7 at Safeway Inc. stores, which include Carrs, Dominick’s, Genuardi’s, Pak’n Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons, from October to December 2008. * About 9,700 O’Neill children’s sweat shirts with drawstrings, made in China and distributed by La Jolla Sport USA of Irvine, are being recalled because drawstrings through the hoods could strangle or entrap a child. The recalled items were sold for about $30 by Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Boscovs, Chicks Sporting Goods, Gottschalks, Jacks Surf and Sport, Lesters and Zappos.com from December 2007 to January 2009.
