Customs officials at Los Angeles International Airport have seized a shady shipment of sunglasses.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday that its agents snared a shipment of 8,620 counterfeit sunglasses worth more than $200,000.

The eyewear arrived from China and included knockoff versions of Ed Hardy, Chanel, Prada, Ray-Ban and other designer shades. Counterfeit Lacoste logos for sunglasses also were found in the seizure.

Customs officials warn that fake glasses are not subject to the same manufacturing standards as genuine products and could be prone to shattering or provide inadequate protection from the sun.
